The internal communication between the individual systems is handled by a 10-Gbit network.

Performance during data transfer via the Internet depends on the selected bandwidth. There is the option to select the desired profile (for bandwith options please refer to "scalability", directly in the DCS portal. Swisscom ensures that the selected bandwidth is guaranteed symmetrically on the cloud side. A guaranteed bandwidth with one or more customer locations can be implemented in connection with BNS or LAN-I. Additional advantages for these types of connections are explained in Network access connectivity

Swisscom recommends using virtual network interfaces (vNICs) from the type VMXNET. VMXNET is optimized for performance in a virtual machine. Because operating system vendors do not provide built-in drivers for this card, you must install VMware Tools to have a driver for the VMXNET network adapter available. Usage of the vNIC from the typ e1000 can cause network disconnects and is strictly not recommended.

NOTE: Please use the vCloud Director to stopp or restart your VMs. Powering off the virtual machine from inside the guest operating system causes the machine to display a state of “Partially Powered Off”. It can result in disconnected network cards after you restart the VM if the HW configuration gets adapted in this status. (For more details please see: VMware kb 2061991
